Compelled by the Love of Christ

Christians are compelled by the love of Christ to live differently than everyone else in the world. Christ lived an unselfish life, dying for everyone in the world, so we might have our sins forgiven. Now, we must live for others, instead of for ourselves, as well.(II Corinthians 5:14,15) He is our Lord, and His love inspires us to love others with His love, which now resides in our hearts.

My missionary friend, Doug Roberts put it in perspective for us several years ago. I may not be able to quote him exactly, but he was very succinct. When we find out the meaning of life, we find out that it is not about us, but it is all about Him. Then, once we know it is about Him, we know it is all about them. There is no way to be like Christ and be self-centered. A Christian is to be like Christ, so we are compelled by His great love to be a living example of His love by how we extend His love to others. People are to be able to see Jesus in us and in our words and actions.

Focus on Jesus. Then, He will gently or forcefully turn your eyes from Him to others. Hear Him commission you as an ambassador for Him and send you out to show others how He reconciled the world to Himself. That is our mission 24/7.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Corinthians 6-8.
