Time

Time is very important here on earth. There is no time in heaven, because everything there is eternal and perfect. Here we need to keep time, because we only have a limited amount and what we do with our time is important for us and for others. Moses knew this very well, so in his Psalm he spoke a lot about time, especially that we should number our days.(Psalm 90:12) What did he mean by that?

Can we know the total number of our days on earth? No, only God knows the number of our days and when our time here will end. However, we can number how many we have had already, so that we know where we are on the journey of life. Each day brings us closer to the end, so really, each new day should be even more precious than the previous day. This truth should teach us to live each day to the fullest for the Lord, not for ourselves.

Also, when we see that our days are passing by quickly, and we have only a limited number, it leads us to seek God's wisdom, so we can live smarter and not waste the time we have left. If we do not keep up with time, we will just do whatever feels good, we will not be diligent to accomplish God's purpose for us, and we will miss what He designed us for. That is a tragedy for any believer, and for a non-believer, it means eternal death in Hell, which is the worst end anyone can reach in life.

Therefore, stop and take an assessment of your days. Moses tells us under the inspiration of God that if you live to be 80, it will be because God has given you extra strength. Most of us will only see 70 years or so. Think about where you are on this timeline of your life. What is essential to do before you leave earth for eternity? How is the best way to do it? Seek God's wisdom about that and apply it to your life each day. Then, when you come to the end of your days, you can leave here with no regrets and a sense of accomplishment. Of course, anything we do is only by God's grace and power, but we must be willing and apply ourselves to do His will, or it won't get done. That is why we have to number our days.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 92-94.
