Aren't You Thankful for God's Heart?
David knew God so well that it was easy for Him to break forth in praise to God. In Psalm 86:15 he praises God for His heart. It is a great reminder to us of why we should be thankful for God's heart every day.
God is full of compassion. He is not partially compassionate. He does not "feel with" us half way. His heart is full to overflowing with compassion. He is quick to understand and to be gracious, which is to give us more than we deserve. He is not stingy with His blessings. He is ready to give us more time and more chances to get life right, because of His longsuffering nature. He is not quick to condemn us. He is abundant in mercy, which means He punishes much us less than we deserve. Finally, God is abundant in truth. He has it all, and He gives it to us abundantly when we seek His truth.
These attributes of God should cause us to praise Him like David did , and they should lead us to be thankful for His heart. He is truly a Loving Father, who desires to see us succeed in knowing Him and having an abundant life. If you have not seen Him in this way, get to know Him intimately like David, and then, you will see His heart.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 88-91.
