Steps Ordered by the Lord
What will you do today? Whatever you do, will it be what you decide to do on your own, or will it be decided because God has led you to do it? David knew that a good person allows God to order his steps, and that is why he or she is good.(Psalm 37:23) If we live by our own instincts and wisdom, we will fail to do God's will and walk in His way.
Remember, God is not required to follow you around. Jesus commanded us to follow Him. That takes time and prayer, so that we know where He has designed for us to go. It takes discipline which comes from the Spirit. We must realize that we have orders from the Lord each day, and His orders are the way He has ordered our steps, so we can have the best life. If we miss His way, we will not have joy.
The last part of this verse can be taken two ways. My translation thinks that it is God delighting in our way, when we allow Him to order our steps. I think it is the other way around. We decide to delight in His way. We do not want to order our own way, because He is Lord. He knows best. He died for us, so He has our best interests at heart.
Let's decide to make it a daily practice to ask God to order our steps that day, so that we follow Him and accomplish the things He has laid out for us to do that day.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 38-41.
