A New Song in My Mouth

It is one thing to have a song in our hearts, and it is quite a different thing to have a song in our mouths. Yes, we need both, but the song in our mouths is what others hear. When they hear us sing the praises of God, they are drawn to Him by our heart-felt worship of our Lord.(Psalm 40:3) David experienced that, and I hope you have, too.

Singing a "new song" that resonates in our hearts and comes out of our mouths full of passion and praise is a unique experience. There is nothing tired or stale about it. It is fresh and new to us. Others can tell that we are fully engaged in worshiping God with our minds, our hearts, and our emotions. When we voice our praises to the Lord, it lifts us to His throne, and it lifts others to Him. We must not keep silent; we sing it out wherever we go for whomever we meet.

We receive a new song from the Lord when we experience a new truth about Him, or we come to know a way to express something about God in a fresh way. You may not be a musician. It does not mean we have to write a song or be able to sing well. It means that we are showing forth the Lord with our mouths, giving a testimony about something new He has done in our lives. The new song that we sing forth, shows others the reality of our daily walk with our Lord.

This is why we, as believers, should spend time in personal worship of the Lord Jesus, as well as corporate worship with other believers. Then, when we encounter God in a song or a Bible truth, we go out with it in our mouths to share in an exciting way. God uses that new song to reach people. Let's show everyone that Jesus is Lord in new ways every day.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 42-45.
