God's Deliverance from the Afflictions of Life
King David had plenty of afflictions in his life. He still lived a blessed life, because God delivered him out of all of his afflictions.(Psalm 34:19) As I look back over my life as a believer, I can give the same testimony about God's deliverance. There have been an abundance of afflictions, but God has been there each time to deliver me and my family. Is that your testimony as well?
I am afraid many people misunderstand God and being a Christian. They think He is set on delivering us from afflictions by causing them not to happen. They think that Christianity is supposed to be life without troubles. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Afflictions are a part of life on earth. Jesus said it Himself. However, the good thing is that Jesus walks with us through every affliction, so we bond together with Him deeply. He sees our trust in Him, and we see His heart of compassion for us. We are led to be confident in His love and power.
Please, let's give this testimony that David voices here in Psalm 34:19 to as many people as possible, so they will understand how our relationship with Jesus lives itself out in everyday life. He does not keep the afflictions from coming into our lives, but He is so good that He even carries us through them at times. All glory be to the Lord for His abundant deliverance.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 35-37.
