The Fire and the Glory
We need the fire of God to come down from heaven today and for the glory of the Lord to fill our lives and our churches. People need to see the power and the presence of the Lord. That is what happened in Solomon's day, and it can and will happen today, if we will do what he did.(II Chronicles 7:1)
Solomon obeyed God fully. He gave his best to the Lord in building God an exalted house, the Temple. He prayed sincerely for God to hear the prayers of His people, because he knew that without God, they could do nothing. All of the people, the priests, and Solomon had sanctified themselves before the Lord, confessing their sins, and coming to Him clean and committed. Then, God showed His pleasure by sending down the fire and His glory filling the Temple. What an awesome site it must have been!
If we are going to see the fire and the glory, we must obey God from clean hearts that are fully committed to doing our best for Him. We must confess our sins, so that we are clean, and we must sacrifice what we want for what He wants. We must show Him that we are serious, and we know that without Him we can do nothing. What will we do? What will our church families do? Will we see the fire and the glory come down? God is waiting.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 8-10.
