Speaking The Truth

Job's friends did not help him out. They put pressure on him to say that he had sinned, and that was the reason for his suffering. Job knew that was not the case, and he was right. Therefore, it would have been wrong for him to agree with his friends. He would have been lying.(Job 27:3,4)

There are a lot of ways to "speak wickedness and utter deceit." Most of the time we only think about saying things that are hurtful to others or false, because we are trying to get away with lying, so we can protect ourselves. Those are truly wrong. However, if we change what we say because our friends won't like the truth, it is still speaking a lie, and it is deceptive. We must not give in to peer pressure to agree with our friends. We must speak the truth in love all the time.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 28-30.
