Man-Made Religion
The tendency of people is to create their own religion to match their own desires. Romans 1 gives us a detailed description of how people have rejected the true Creator to worship the creation. It has always been that way, and it will continue to be that way.
In my Bible reading this morning I came across II Chronicles 11:15. It tells us that King Jeroboam appointed priests for the northern kingdom of Israel after the 10 tribes became independent from Judah. He did not want people going back to Jerusalem, because he thought they would end up staying in Judah. The sad thing was that he appointed priests for the pagan high places of worship, for demons, and for the calf idols he made. This is basically a picture of what still happens today in a man-made religion.
People like to mix religions together, even mixing pagan religion with the worship of the True God. They do not think a little false religion will hurt them, and after all, the things pagans do are kind of fun. Then, some end up worshiping demons. They do not set out to do that, but Satan has a lot of counterfeit religions. All they amount to is the worship of demons. Finally, people love to make idols, since they can make them to fit their sins and their lifestyle. All of these things are the distractions of Satan to keep us from embracing the truth of God with all of our hearts and the Lord Jesus Christ. Please, beware of falling into these pits. Ask God to show you His truth and His way, and He will show you clearly.
