The Whole Armor of God

Today was the final Good News Club at Cotton Indian Elementary School for this school year. It has been a pretty amazing year in some ways. We started off very small, but we ended up with more students than any of our other years. The candy bar evangelism worked so well that we had a lot of first timers coming each week. God is so good!

Our end of school lesson was on the whole armor of God out of Ephesians 6:1-18. Since that is one of my favorite passages to talk about, I was excited about sharing it with the children. I used the flannel graph figures to share a story and show the pieces of the armor. It all really connected with the children, and even though they were fairly rowdy, as they usually tend to be, they were quiet for most of the lesson.

The lesson was designed to teach the students how to use God's armor to defeat Satan every day. We all need to learn that important truth, but I especially pray the message sunk into the hearts of the fifth graders, because they go to middle school next year. I would encourage each of us to make sure we put on the whole armor of God every day. It is not just a good idea for every believer. It is a command. It is the only way to defeat Satan and to stand for the Lord against all of the attacks of the world, the flesh, and the devil.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 15-17.
