God's Perfect Will
This morning we had a good group of men for our study of the Lord's Prayer in Luke 11. We explored the Trinity to help us understand how we should pray, because God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are involved in prayer. However, the key is remembering that there is one God, not three gods. Prayer is pouring our hearts out to Him.
When we pray we are seeking God's will to be done, not our own will. In fact, Jesus said to pray for God's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Think about that for a minute. Heaven is a perfect place with no sin. If we are doing God's will here in that way, it will be His perfect will for our lives. That is what God wants. This doesn't mean that we will ever be perfect here, but it means we can know His perfect and precise will for us, and we can do it when we trust Him. The problem is we don't always trust Him, and we don't always pray as we should.
Remember, God is our Father, and He wants to meet our needs. He is not stingy. He is not overly strict. He is kind and loving. He is the Perfect Father. Therefore, He wants to see our hearts. If our hearts are right as we seek Him, He can and will answer our prayers according to His will. If our hearts are not right, He knows it, and He will not give us what we want. He would not be a good Father if He did. Therefore, we need to come to Him with clean, humble hearts seeking His perfect will. That is very pleasing to Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 49-51.
