Too Busy for God
I see it all the time. Folks who are too busy doing what they want to do, so they have no time for the Lord or no time for church. It is the deception of Satan that blinds them to what is truly important in life and leads them to focus on the minor things.
Most Christians fail to have a time with the Lord every day. They have all kinds of reasons for their neglect of God and His Word. They have to work to make money. They have to take care of the children. They need their relaxation and recreation. They can't do without their sleep. What does all of this mean? It means that God is at the bottom of their list of priorities. Therefore, Jesus is not Lord. He is an add-on to their lives. It is no wonder that they do not experience His blessings and have no peace in their lives.
Then, there are multitudes of people who want to have as many activities in their lives as possible. They believe that having experiences enriches their lives. By doing these things they deprive themselves of the time it takes to have a relationship with God and with other people. Relationships are the source of real life, not experiences. Our relationship with the Creator and Redeemer is the ultimate relationship, and it has the ultimate impact on our lives for the better. When we don't have time to pursue a relationship with God, because we are trying to engage in so many activities, we end up having unsatisfying lives.
Let me encourage all of you to do something. Take out your Bible. Sit down in a quiet place, and spend some time talking to God and reading His Word. Start in I John or in the Gospel of John. Listen to what God says to you and respond to Him. Watch to see the results in your life. You will be amazed at what a half an hour with the Lord will do for you.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 8-10.
