Questioning God

I have run into a lot of people who have a problem with how God is running this world. In particular, they have a problem with how things are going in their lives, and they blame it on God. They seem to think that if they could talk to God, they could convince Him that He had made mistakes. This line of reasoning is very foolish. They can't see it because of pride and selfishness, but they really have no basis to believe that they could ever correct God on anything.

My verses for today are Job 40:1-2. It is the beginning of God's response to Job. Job wanted to bring his case before God and ask Him some questions. He wanted to justify himself before God. However, once God showed Job how little he really knew about running the world, Job was silent. That would be the response of any of us once we stood in front of Holy God.

Therefore, why be a faultfinder, who contends with God? You can't ever win. Why not admit that He is Lord, and He knows what He is doing? Let Him direct the world and your life. Then, things could go as He planned, which is far better than what you could do on your own. The only alternative is to reprove God and show Him you have more wisdom and power than He does. You might try that route, but I don't suggest it.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 41-42 and Acts 16:22-40.
