Chasing Rabbits ; Answering Questions
This morning we had 16 men gather at 5 AM to study God's Word. It does my heart good to meet with these men each week. This morning, I guess you could say we chased a rabbit that jumped up in our study and discussion last week. We dealt with a question that Jerry Loving raised, which in essence was, "What did Jesus do between Friday afternoon when He died on the cross and Sunday morning when He arose from the dead?" That is a good question, so we spent the full hour on it.
One thing we know is that He went to Paradise, because in Luke 23:43 He told the believing thief who was crucified next to Him that He would be with Him in Paradise that day. Paradise was a part of Hades, which is also called Abraham's bosom in Luke 16. It was the good side of Hades. After looking at Ephesians 4 and I Peter 3, we decided that Jesus went to proclaim His victory over Satan and death. Then, He took all of the Old Testament believers to Heaven who were waiting for His death on the cross. Then, once He got to Heaven He sprinkled His precious blood on the mercy seat of the Holy of Holies in Heaven to seal the New Covenant in His blood. We read about that from several passages in Hebrews. I told the men that we should not be too dogmatic about all of this because the Bible does not give us a specific time line, but it a wonderful truth for all of us. Jesus paid it all. Now, all believers can live with Him in Heaven around the throne of God.
I pray that you are ready to stand before Jesus, because His blood has atoned for your sins. The only way for that to happen is for you to trust Him as Lord once and for all.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 50 and Hebrews 8.
