The Ears of God

Yesterday, we considered a verse about the eyes of God, and today I am drawn to a verse about God's ears. Psalms 66:18 is very important when it comes to having our prayers answered. It says, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear." That is a pretty scary verse, huh? I believe we can pray and pray, but if we have not confessed our sins to God in a serious manner, He does not hear us. He is waiting for us to realize the severity of our actions. He is also trying to show us that He hates sin.

In order to get rid of sin a believer must repent of it. That means we have to turn away and not do it again. Then, we have to confess it. That means we have to say what God would say about that sin back to God, Himself. I know that is a stiff requirement, but why should God forgive a sin if we take it lightly or plan to do it again? God is no fool. He is not mocked. Whatever we sow; we will reap. If we sow to the flesh we will reap corruption. If we sow to the Spirit, we will receive eternal life. (Galatians 6:7-8) God knows our hearts, so He listens when He knows our hearts are right with Him.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 63-65 and Romans 6.
