Going Back to School

Next Monday is the first day of school here in Henry County. The teachers and staff of our academy are having their preparation time this week like all of the other schools. We have been having a time of worship each morning. Steve Smith, our associate pastor, has been doing the music, and I have been doing a short message on how to be an mature Christian disciple. It has been a wonderful part of our preparation for the year.

After all, what is the most important part of our education as a person? I believe that our spiritual education and development far outweighs anything else, because it determines our present fulfillment and our eternal destiny. How could we consider teaching children without being spiritually ready to mold their souls in the right way? Most of these children will spend far more time with our staff and teachers than with their parents for most of the year, and we are stewards of their lives before God. Their parents entrust them to us, so we must do our best to lead them and to teach them to know the Lord and to obey His truth. It is a great ministry of our church. Please pray for everyone connected with our North Henry Academy to have a great year.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 54-56 and Romans 3.
