Jesus is Praying Right Now
This morning at 5 AM we had 14 men discussing Jesus' prayer in John 17. The third section of the prayer is where Jesus prays for all of the believers who will believe because of the word of the original disciples. (v.20) That is you, if you are a believer. We had a great discussion of the significance of Jesus praying for us. He was God in the flesh, so He has walked in our shoes. Now, He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and He is praying for believers constantly. (Hebrews 7:25) What a blessing to think that Jesus is praying for me. Not only did He die on the cross for my sins and rise again to prove He was God. He went back to Heaven to pray for all of His children, who were adopted into His family by grace through faith in Him. He is there to give us every advantage to live the victorious Christian life. (Hebrews 4:15) We even looked at Romans 8:26 where the Lord tells us that the Holy Spirit is praying specifically for each believer when we do not know how to pray. God is on our side, totally. When God is for us, who can be against us? The only way we fail is when we do not seek out God's direction. We do not listen to the Spirit. We fail to trust Jesus' instructions for how to overcome each temptation. It is a matter of following our Lord who loves us enough to pray for us continually. I pray that each of us will be encouraged by these truths, and that we will not be rebellious toward the leadership of our Loving Lord Jesus who wants us to find and to live the abundant life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 49-50 and Romans 1.
