Taking the Lead

For years I listened to John Maxwell teach on leadership. He says that everything rises and falls on leadership. Therefore, he thinks that we all must put an emphasis on enlisting and training leaders, or else we will not have success in our churches or in anything else. I do not disagree with him about the importance of leadership exactly, but I do think that the problem is not finding leaders and training them. The problem is finding God's will and being obedient. I believe that many Christians do not really want to find God's will, because they want to be able to do their own will. They do not want responsibility. A lot of people will help, but they do not want to be the head. If they had prayed and they knew that God had told them to do something, I believe that they would be compelled to fulfill His will. Therefore, I believe we have a lack of leaders because we have only a few people motivated by God to accomplish His will. God is speaking, but we are not listening and obeying.

What did Jesus say? The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray for the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. God is calling, but many are not following. We need to pray more intensely for God to turn up the heat, so they will listen. Then, we could see a great movement of God. He is waiting for us, because He works through His people to do His will. If we listen we will have plenty of leaders in every ministry. Leaders are not made or born. They are called by God to do His will, and they do whatever it takes to obey Him out of love.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 51-53 and Romans 2.
