Fullness of Joy

There is no doubt that God intends for us to live in joy every day. Joy is a part of the fruit of the Spirit. When we know Christ, and we have the Holy Spirit in us, He gives us God's joy. It is not dependent on our circumstances, and it is such an abiding contentment that we know everything is going to be alright. God's joy is fantastic, but there will be an even greater joy one of these days.

David wrote of this joy. (Psalm 16:11) David was confident that God would show him the path of life, so he could live a life pleasing to God. Then, He would go to be in His presence and experience the fullness of joy. At His right hand there would be pleasures forevermore. He was looking forward to that, as we all should.

David said that he was confident that God would not leave his soul in Sheol, the place of the dead. He knew he would go to be in God's presence. That is the hope the Lord wants each of us, as believers, to have. He wants us to be looking forward to having the fullness of joy and to live in pleasures forever. That is God's design for each of us, but we have to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

It gives me great comfort to know that Chris is not suffering any more. She went through so much with her pancreatic cancer. Yes, she and I had joy as she went through all of those things, but when she woke up in heaven, she had the fullness of joy. Now, she is not living in pain and discomfort, but in pleasures forever. All of that because of the grace of God through knowing Jesus Christ. I pray each of us will know Him and have this sure hope.
