Our Importance to God
I took a walk this morning like I do 5 days a week. I was surrounded by all of God's creation. There were so many birds singing and roosters crowing. The world was alive with life. Then, when I look to the sky, I see the moon and all of the stars that fill the heavens. All of these things show us the glory of God, his power, and his majesty. With all of those things being so glorious and numerous, why would God consider me important to Him?
David felt that way in his day. He was amazed that God would take notice of people and of him in particular. (Psalm 8:3,4) He said that when he considered God's heavens, the work of His fingers, the moon and the stars, which God had ordained, what is man that God would be mindful of him, or the son of man that God would visit him? I pray we all can stop for a minute and let this truth sink in.
The expanse of the universe is beyond our comprehension. God created it, but He is also sustaining it every second of every day. He holds it all together and directs each part to accomplish His purposes. It would seem that God would be busy with all of those glorious things. Why would He want to stoop down to the level of sinful people and be involved with us? Of course, the answer is that He loves each and every one of us, regardless of who we are and what we have done.
Isn't it nice to get a call or a visit from a friend? It is so great to know that we matter enough to them for them to take time and energy to seek us out and spend time with us. That is exactly what the God of the universe does to us everyday. Believe me, He is calling you. You are important to Him. He wants to visit you, if you will just listen for Him and let Him in. That is just how important each of us is to God. Isn't that amazing? Let's not miss spending time with Him every day.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 9-11.
