Weeping before the Lord
Most of us don't want to think about weeping. We tend to have the idea that it is a negative thing, and we associate it with being sad. Yes, that can be true, but it can also be a very good thing for us. When we cry, we pour out our hearts to those around us. We stop holding on to the raw emotions. Letting them out helps us move forward.
Jeremiah is known as the "weeping prophet." His tears are mentioned in several passages. (Lamentations 1:16) He wept over the destruction of Jerusalem and the death of so many of the people.. The tears just ran down his face, because the comforter was far from him, the one who would restore his soul. He saw the children of Judah were desolate because the enemy had prevailed. I am sure that most of us have experienced similar grief.
My mother used to tell me that sometimes the only thing that can help us at that moment is a good cry. I fully agree. There are just times when we do not have the comfort we need. The best thing is to pour out our heart to the Lord, because He cares for us. He will see and respond in the right time and the right way. He will restore our soul which is our mind, will, and emotions to how they are supposed to operate.
A major reason we fail to have comfort is when we have not listened to God, and He has punished us. His silence is part of our punishment. We let the enemy prevail over us, whether it was the world, the flesh, or the devil. We sinned, and we have to pay the price. God knows what we have done, so we need to confess our sins and turn back to Him to receive the comfort we need from Him.
