Stubbornness

It is amazing how stubborn we can be, isn't it? If we get something in our minds or in our hearts, we will stick to it tenaciously, no matter what anyone else says. It might be right, or it might be wrong. We don't care at that point. We are just determined to hold our ground. This leads us into many problems in life.

The people of God were being punished for their sins, and Jeremiah was trying to get them to repent and return to God. He told them just what God told him to say to them. (Jeremiah 16:12) God said that they had done evil, even more than their forefathers; for behold, each one was following the stubbornness of his own evil heart, without listening to Him. That is a recipe for disaster.

We have all sinned and done evil things. The worst thing we can do is to just double down and do more and more of the same things because we have our choice of what to do. Many times we are just doing what we have seen our parents and others do. Please, remember that just because other people do something that doesn't make it right or good for us to do.

We must stop following the stubbornness of our hearts, because that keeps us from listening to God. Our aim should be to listen to the Lord and do whatever He says. We must not stubbornly persist in our sins. I pray we will repent of our stubbornness and of the sins it has caused. Then, let's listen to the Lord and do things His way. It is what is best for us.
