Finding Salvation and Strength
Sometimes, we can be very hardheaded. That is not a good way to be, but it is built into our flesh for most of us. We want to get things our way, and we want to do what we do in our own way. The problem is that what we want and the way we want to do it, doesn't get us where we want to go. We want to be free from sins and stress, and we want to have strength, but we are not willing to do it God's way.
That was Israel's problem, too. (Isaiah 30:15) God told His people that in repentance and rest they would be saved, and in quietness and trust they would find strength. However, they were not willing to do these things, so they missed out on God's blessings for them. Let's not have that happen to us.
There is no salvation from our sins without repentance. We have to turn from our sins and turn to the Lord Jesus in faith. Then, God will forgive us. After that, we must rest in the Lord. Since Jesus is Lord, we must follow Him each day, and stop trying to do everything in our own power. When we stop trying and rest, we will be saved from a lot of stress.
We find strength in that quietness as we sit before the Lord in prayer and Bible reading. God comes in those moments to give us His power to live in His will. Also, as we trust the Lord for all things and do what He says, He will give us strength to do what we thought was impossible. However, these things take surrendering to God and spending time with Him regularly. Some of us are not willing to do that, but we are being foolish if we refuse.
