The Source of Wisdom and Knowledge
People put a lot of emphasis on having a college degree. Employers want their employees to have a degree. We want our children to graduate from college. I can say from my experience that it is a good accomplishment, and it shows our ability to do work and learn a variety of things. However, there is something that is so much more important than that kind of education.
The Lord wants us all to know the source of wisdom and knowledge. That is what all of us really need more than anything else, besides salvation. (Proverbs 2:6) The truth is that the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. No matter how many degrees we may have, we will fall well short of having what we need to navigate this life without having God's wisdom and knowledge.
As I have said before, wisdom is being able to see things the way God sees them. It is like being in the space station looking down on the earth and being able to see how everything fits together as a whole. It is not having a high IQ. It is seeing all the facts and putting them together correctly. That is what none of us can do without God's wisdom, and we can only get it from Him.
Then, we have to consider knowledge. Knowledge is knowing the facts. How do we know what is really true? The only way to know that something is true is if God said it. Therefore, we have to measure everything we learn from any source by the Word of God. If what we have been told doesn't agree with God's Word, it is not knowledge. It is falsehood. That is why reading and knowing God's Word is so important. With both wisdom and knowledge we have the tools to live life as God designed it to be lived.
