God's Strength and Understanding
I am convinced that there is one thing that affects our praying in a dramatic way. It is just a fact that our view of God shapes what we say and how we say it. If we think that God is just an old man on a throne in heaven, we will not be inclined to pray great prayers, calling on Him to do marvelous things. We will think we need to explain things to Him and just hope He can do what we need Him to do for us. That is not a good way to pray.
The psalmist had a much better view of God. We need to hear what the Lord told us through him and apply it to our hearts and in our prayers. (Psalm 147:5) He told us that our Lord is great and abundant in strength. He added that God's understanding is infinite. That is a great description of the One True and living God whom we know and serve. Let's keep this in mind as we pray.
Our God is abundant in strength. He has all kinds of strength, and His strength is not limited in any way. In fact, God's strength just keeps rushing forth to accomplish His will, like a mighty torrent of a river. When we pray to God for His help, we need to realize His strength and know that anything we need for Him to do will be easy for Him. All He has to do is say the word and our need will be met.
In much the same way God's understanding is infinite. He understands everything in the universe which He made and sustains. He knows exactly how we feel and what we are thinking. He never makes a mistake in His judgment. That is why He always does the right thing, even if we can't see what He is doing or why. We do not need to doubt God, but just pour out our heart to Him and ask Him to do His will for us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 149-150 and Proverbs 1-2.
