Being Judged by God

It is about time for the Summer Olympics. Most of us will take time to watch some of the events. We will be able to see how the athletes perform. However, it is not our judgment that matters. There will be official judges there, who will watch closely and give each one a score or a grade each time they compete. These scores determine who wins and who loses.

We may not know it, but our lives are being judged all of the time. Our Judge is God. (Ecclesiastes 12:14) The Bible assures us that "God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or bad." When we realize this truth, it changes how we live, or at least, it should change how we live.

We put a huge emphasis on being free to do what we want to do. It is true that we make our own choices, and we are responsible for what we do. However, we should never think that whatever we decide to do is OK. It may be what we want, but it might not be the best. We ought to be striving for doing the best we can do, because God is watching, and He will bring everything into His judgment in the end.

Even the things that we think are hidden are seen by God and will be judged. Therefore, we need to live each moment and make each decision and speak every word, knowing that God is taking it all in, so He can give His judgment of each one to us. It is going to be very shameful when He has to point out our failures, but, it will be very joyous when He praises us. Let's make sure we live in His power and do His will well, so we will hear more praise and have less shame.
