Delighting in Commandments
Most of us don't like to be told what to do or what not to do. We want to be independent from interference in our affairs. We think we know what is best for us. However, there are commandments which are very helpful for us. We must not rebel against those things, but obey them.
The psalmist gave us a great insight from the Lord on this. (Psalm 112:1) He told us to praise the Lord. Then, he assured us that we are blessed by the Lord when we fear the Lord, and we greatly delight in His commandments. So, we are not to simply obey God's commandments, but delight in doing them
If we fear the Lord, we respect Him, and we want to do what He tells us, because we have a fear of what He will do if we disobey. That is a healthy fear that keeps us in His will. I pray that we will all be blessed by fearing the Lord.
Then, I pray we will realize that His commandments are good for us. He gives them out of His great love for us to help us, not to limit us. This attitude will lead us to greatly delight in His commandments. When we do that, He is pleased with us and showers blessings on us.
