The Law of the Lord
If we didn't have laws, society would be in chaos. I know some of us think laws are too strict and keep us from doing what we want to do. However, good laws are there to help us. They keep order in our world. The best laws come from the law of the Lord, which is God's inspired Word, the Bible. They are most helpful for all of us who keep them.
David loved the Lord, and He studied His law. (Psalm 19:7,11) David had come to know that the law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul. He knew the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. He knew that God's servant is warned by them and in keeping them there is great reward. Sounds like something we all need, doesn't it?
When we read God's law, and we keep it, our soul is restored to what God intended it to be. Our soul is our mind, will, and emotions. We need to make sure all three are lined up with God's Word, so we are more and more like Jesus. Also, we need to hear the testimony of the Lord about all types of things, so He can give us His wisdom about those things.
God's law serves as a warning to us. It keep us away from the sinful ways and leads us in the path of righteousness. If we fail to heed His warnings, we will face serious consequences. On the other hand, if we do keep them, we will get great rewards from the Lord. That is why He gave us His law. He wants us to be blessed by it.
