Praying in the Morning

There are some things that are best done in the morning. I have found that getting a good workout in the morning gets me ready for the rest of the day, and it is easier than waiting until later in the day. A good walk at sunrise is very pleasant and inspiring, too. However, I have found the best thing to do in the morning is to pray.

David speaks of this truth in several of his psalms. (Psalm 5:3) He assured the Lord that in the morning He would hear his voice, and in the morning he would present his prayer to the Lord and be on the watch. I am sure that is why David was able to get through all of the trials in his life and to be a great king. We need to do the same thing, too.

After getting our sleep for the night, the first Person we should want to talk with is the Lord. He longs to hear our voice. It brings much pleasure to the Lord when we speak with Him in the morning, and we show Him that He is #1 in our life. Then, we can present our prayer to the Lord for the day.

Jesus said that we were to pray for "our daily bread." Well, we can't pray that prayer after the day is gone. It has to be in the morning. Also, we can't be on the watch to see if He answers our prayers if we haven't prayed to Him in the morning. See what I mean. We all need to be praying in the mornings for our lives to be on track with the Lord.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 6-8.
