Loving Righteousness

We hear people say that they "love" things all the time. It might be that they love a particular food. Also, people say that they love to do certain things, like go to the movies. Others, love to go places and see new things. However, how many times have we heard people say that they love righteousness?

We need to remember that God is righteous. (Psalm 11:7) Not only is God righteous, but He loves righteousness. Because of this, the upright, that is, righteous people, will see His face. Sounds to me like loving righteousness is pretty important. What about you?

There are a lot of people who do the right things in life because they have been taught to live that way. Others are afraid of what God might do to them if they do the wrong things. All the time they struggle to be righteous, because they do not really love doing those things. They would rather be doing other things, like everyone else.

We all need to learn the key to having a great, joyous life. It is not doing the earthly things that others do. It is in being righteous like God. It is by loving righteousness like God does. Then, it is a joy to do God's will and to do it well. We want to do it more and more, because we truly enjoy being righteous. When God sees that, He smiles on us, and we see His face. We have a close personal relationship with God, because we are the kind of people He wants to hang out with all the time. That makes for a great life!
