Made Like Clay
We are all fearfully and wonderfully made, like the Bible says. God creates each of us as unique individuals. He has made us in such a way that He can mold us and make us into the image of Christ, and into the person He designed us to be. Our part is to place ourselves into His hands and allow Him to do with us what He desires.
Job had a sense of this. He knew that he was in God's hands and that there was nothing he could do to change his situation without God's intervention. (Job 10:9) So Job appealed to God to remember that He had made him as clay. Yet, Job wanted to know if God would turn him into dust again? We are all in this same situation with God, and we need to accept it.
We all have aspirations. There are things we want to do in our lives, places we want to go, things we want to see. Some people even have a "bucket list" they are checking off before the end of their life. That is all well and good, if we keep in mind that we are but clay in God's hands. He can change our plans at any point.
Now, God does all of this in love. He is love. He doesn't want to spoil our life. He wants to make it better by making us like Jesus. That is the greatest life we can have. Let's work with Him to see that happen, because one day we will be turned into dust again. That is, this body, which came from dust will return to it. Then, we will stand before the Lord, and He will show us what we allowed Him to make of us, and whether we turned out good or bad.
