Being Steady and Growing Stronger

For many people life is a series of ups and downs. They do not know from one day to the next what they will do or how things will go. It leads to a life of stress. There is no consistency and no assurance of what will come next. That is not how it is for everyone, though.

Job went through a very difficult time with losing his family, his possessions, and his health. However, he still held firm to his convictions. (Job 17:9) He was confident that the righteous person would hold to his way, and the one with clean hands would grow stronger and stronger. We all need to have this assurance, no matter what trials we might encounter in life.

We become righteous by putting our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. He forgives our sins, and we become one of His children. We receive the Spirit to guide us and empower us. Therefore, if we are truly righteous, we will hold to our way. We will not depart from trusting the Lord. Sure, we will fail, at times, but we will get right back on the straight and narrow way.

When we come to Jesus and our hands are clean, we are pure before the Lord. We confess our sins, when we commit them, so the Lord will forgive us and cleanse us. (I John 1:9) As we do that, we get stronger and stronger. Each time we trust the Lord, it gets easier the next time. It is like exercising our muscles, as we exercise our faith, it get stronger and stronger, so we get stronger and stronger.
