One of a Kind

There are a lot of ways that we can compliment other people. We can say that they are the smartest person we have every known. We can compliment their appearance as being the prettiest or the most handsome person we have ever known. However, one of the highest compliments we can give is to say that the other person is "one of a kind."

That is what was said about king Josiah after he was read the book of the Law, and He committed  himself to doing all he could to turn the people back to the Lord. (II Kings 23:25) The Lord inspired the writer of the book of Kings to tell us that before Josiah there was no king like him who turned to the Lord with all his heart, all his soul, and all his might, in conformity to all the Law of Moses, nor did any like him arise after him.

Very few people are fully committed to the Lord. Josiah gives us a good example of what that takes. We must turn away from our own way and turn to the Lord with all our heart. Our heart is who we are as a person. Our identity becomes the person who belongs to the Lord and obeys Him no matter what.

It means we have our soul set on Him fully, our mind, our will, and our emotions. We meditate on Him and His Word constantly. We ask Him to conform our emotions to Him, and we decide to do whatever He says in His Word. Then, we do all of this with all of our strength and resources. If we do all of that we could be a "one of a kind" disciple of the Lord.
