Occult Practices Forbidden

 We have many people today who resort to occult practices because they think they can receive help for their lives. The opposite is actually the truth. When a person turns to the occult, it is Satan and his demons who come to wield their destructive influences on them. They end up in a terrible spiritual condition, and their lives are harmed, not helped.  

God made this point very clear to Israel before they entered the land of Canaan where there were many people who lived by the occult and pagan religions. (Deuteronomy 18:10,11) God told them not to allow anyone among them to make his son or daughter pass through the fire of the god, Molech, anyone who uses divination, a soothsayer, one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who consults the dead. We still see all of these things today.

We must not sacrifice our children to make us happy, which is what many people do today when they go to have an abortion. We must not use ways to divine the future, like reading tarot cards. We must not go to people who claim to know the future or who claim to be able to interpret omens. All of these things are of the devil, not God.

We must stay away from witchcraft of any kind, where people use drugs to influence people or where people cast spells on others. We must not seek a person who can contact the dead and supposedly consult the dead for us. Those people claim to be able to go between us and those who have died, but it is a lie. All we need to do is to consult the Lord and His Word. He tells us all we need to live an abundant life.
