God Rewards Honesty
We live in a world where we have to be on guard against dishonest people all the time. It is a world of scams. We have to check out everyone with whom we do business, because they might take advantage of us. This is a sad fact about our world, but it has been that way ever since Adam and Eve sinned.
God warned the people of Israel about being dishonest, and then, He encouraged them to live in honesty. (Deuteronomy 25:15) He commanded them to have correct and honest weights and measures, so their business dealings would be accurate and honest. Then, he told them that if they were honest, He would prolong their days in the Promised land. Yes, God blesses us when we are honest.
Being a person of integrity is a must for every Christian. We are not to be dishonest with anyone. We are not to deceive others or be hypocritical in anything. People should know that when they do business with us, we will treat them fairly and do an excellent job for them. After all, we are representing our Lord.
When people see Christians that are greedy and do people wrong to make money, it leads them away from Jesus. God can never bless us when we do anything to harm others. However, He is quick to bless us when we are honest, because He wants others to see Jesus in all we say and do. Let's decide to treat others the way Jesus would treat them and see what God does.
