Moving On
There are times in our lives when we need to move on from where we are to the next place the Lord has for us. This can be true of moving on to a new home, or it could be moving on to a new job. There are even times when we need to move on spiritually to the next stage God has for us. This is healthy, as we follow the Lord's leadership in it.
The sons of Israel came to this point after two years of camping around Mt. Sinai and meeting with the Lord there. (Numbers 10:33) So they moved on from the mountain of the Lord three days' journey, with the ark of the covenant of the Lord going in front of them. They were seeking out a resting place for them. This is a great lesson for all of us to learn.
God's plan for us is what is best for us. Most of us do not like change, so we would rather stay where we are and do what we have been doing. It is comfortable and safe. However, we can't grow without change, and we can't accomplish God's will for us without adjustments to our life at different times. Israel had to go from God's mountain, so they could get to the Promised Land.
God has a promised land for each of us, too. It is a place to have all that we need and to rest in Him. (Hebrews 4) The key is that we do not resist the Lord when He leads us to move on, but to listen and to seek out our resting place. Being there will be much better for us because we can carry out God's plan for us and others there.
