The Special Possession

What is your most special possession? I know that is a difficult question to answer for most of us, but it is very important that we think about this. What kinds of things do you think about as being very special to you? What would cause you much pain and grief if you lost it? We may be surprised to see what God's Word says.

God gave Ezekiel the commands for the priests in the Millennial time. (Ezekiel 44:28) He told them that the priests were not to have any property or possession of land, for He alone was their special possession. I believe that God is the special possession of all Christians today, since we are all priests before the Lord. I am not sure this has sunk in for all of us, though.

Many believers are still very connected to their material possessions. Some of us long for that special tract of land and that dream house, which we think will just complete our lives and make us very happy. Others have a strong desires to have a huge amount of money, so they can be secure from whatever happens in the world, and that is their most special possession.

These things will never get us to where we need to be in life. It is only the Lord who can meet our needs and give us peace. He is the only One who know us and can comfort us and cheer us like no other. We will not be content, joyful, and at peace, until we focus on the Lord as our special possession, and we put behind all these other things.
