Ten Times More Capable
It is always nice to be recognized for being very good at something. We see this when we are able to learn and do well on our tests in school. It is also seen as we get promoted for doing well in our profession. However, there a certain things at which it is very important to be capable. Those areas have to do with the decisions and choices we make in our lives.
Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were three young Hebrew men taken to Babylon to be trained and serve as advisors to the king of Babylon. (Daniel 1:20) After their training time, whenever the king consulted with them in any matter requiring wisdom and balanced judgment, he found them ten times more capable than any of the magicians and enchanters in his entire kingdom. That was quite a compliment!
The truth is that any Christian should have this same capability. We all have the Holy Spirit in us, and if we allow the Spirit to fill us, He will lead us into all truth. He will show us the wisdom that only comes from God. After all, all is wisdom is God's wisdom. Then, we can understand things that those of this world can't understand.
Once we have God's wisdom, we have a very balanced way to look at everything. That leads us to have balanced judgment in everything we decide and choose to do or think. In this way we do not go to extremes, and we are able to be objective about the reality of each situation and do the right thing in the right way. This makes life so much better.
