The Paths of the Lord
Isn't it great to be able to use a GPS on our phone to navigate us wherever we need to go? It never ceases to amaze me at how quickly and how well it can come up with the best way to get to my destination. However, I have been led in the wrong way a few times, too. As Christians, whenever we follow the paths of the Lord, we get where He wants us to go when He wants us to get there every time.
God admonished His people to follow His paths. (Hosea 14:9) He commanded the wise to understand these things and the discerning to listen carefully. "The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall." I pray we are wise and discerning enough to hear what the Lord said through Hosea.
When we follow God's directions for how to live each day, He shows us the true and right way to do whatever He is leading us to do. We have to listen to His Spirit and do what God is saying. As Christians, we can do these things in God's power, as we depend on Him. That is how righteous people live.
However, if a sinner tries to walk in the paths of the Lord in his own strength, he will always stumble and fall. No one can do God's will in His way without the help of God. This is a sign to sinners that they can't be saved by being good. They must trust Jesus to forgive their sins and give them the Holy Spirit to live in them.
