God's Heart for the Lost

I am afraid it is easy for us, as Christians, to be uncaring and apathetic toward people who are not believers. After all, we know Christ, and we are headed to heaven. We are tempted to live our lives, and we may not even care that they are going to die and be separated from God forever in torment. We must not let this happen. We need to have God's heart.

God showed Ezekiel His heart. (Ezekiel 18:23) He said, "Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? Of course not. I want them to turn from their wicked ways and live." Yes, God's heart breaks for all the people who die in their sins. That was never His intention.

God does everything He can do to get people to turn from their sins and trust Jesus as Lord and Savior. He reveals Himself to them personally, so they know He is alive. He punishes their sins, so they know they are doing wrong. He shows them the gospel of Jesus in all kinds of ways. He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (II Peter 3:9)

All of us, as Christians, are to play a huge part in this process, too. We are His witnesses of what Christ will do for a person who turns to Him. It is vital for us to share our story of salvation, and for us to show people around us the truth of God's Word. We are God's hands and feet. We are His mouthpiece, too. To be really effective we need to have His heart, as well.
