God Can Change Everything

 Have you noticed how quickly things can change? A prosperous company can go bankrupt in a short time. A strong country can be brought down in a few days or weeks. We can go from being very healthy to being very sick in a few hours. These are all complex situations, but the truth is that God can bring us down or build us up, as He sees fit, and we can't stop Him.

God told Ezekiel to share a parable about trees with His people. (Ezekiel 17:24) The trees represent people and nations. Once God acts, all of them will know that it is the Lord, who cuts down the tall tree and makes the short tree grow tall. It is the Lord who makes the green tree wither and gives the dead tree new life. God makes this clear by what He says, and He will do what He says He will do. This truth should teach us at least two things.

First, we should never be without hope because God can take any situation and turn it around in His way and in His time. No one can stop Him. Therefore, no matter how dire our health seems to be or how desperate our financial problems may be, God can change it for the better. This is why we need to trust in Him and obey all He says to us. We must never give up hope.

Secondly, we must never be proud or self-confident, thinking we have everything under control. This can cause us to ignore God, or at least, not to depend on Him as we should. If we do that, we can see everything come crashing down very quickly. Remember, He is the Lord, and He can make whatever changes He needs to make at any time.
