Wisdom and Discipline

Most people are striving to have the best life they can possibly have.  The problem is that many of them do not know what leads to having a great life. Of course, the main key is to know the Lord Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, so we can walk through life with Him. However, there are two other indispensable elements for a great life, wisdom and discipline.

That is why God inspired Solomon to write down his proverbs in a book for all people to read and learn. (Proverbs 1:1,2) Solomon was David's son and the king of Israel. His purpose in writing the book of Proverbs was to teach wisdom and discipline, and to help people understand the insights of the wise. We all need to know these things well.

Wisdom is not the same as intelligence. A very common person can be very wise. All wisdom comes from God, and He will give it to us, if we ask Him, and we search for it in His Word. Wisdom is seeing things from God's perspective. So, when we see life as God sees it, and live according to His perspective, we will have a wonderful life.

Discipline seems like a dirty word to some people. However, without discipline our lives will be chaotic and not accomplish what we need to do. Discipline is having self-control to do the right thing at the right time and to do it consistently. By the power of God we can do this as we learn His Word and ask Him to help us practice it daily.
