Above All Else

 What would you say if someone asked you to tell them the most important thing to do to ensure you have a wonderful life? I am talking about what should be our first priority every day. This is the thing that determines how everything else goes. What would it be?

The Bible is clear on this. (Proverbs 4:23) Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Now, there is a nugget of great wisdom for all of us to consider. There is no doubt that it is the most important thing for all of us to do.

Our heart is who we are as a person. It is a combination of our mind, our will, and our emotions. It is our soul, the core of our being. If our heart is bad and out of fellowship with God, our whole life will be bad. If it is good and set on God and His will, our life will be abundant.

We know from the Bible our words come out of what is in our heart, and our words effect everything in our life. Our actions are directed by our heart. We will do evil if our heart is wrong. Therefore, we need to make sure we know Jesus as Lord and Savior, so we have a new clean heart. Then, we need to guard our heart to keep it clean from sin, so we can do life as God directs.
