Calling on the Lord in Truth
Truth is very important to each of us. Truth is knowing and doing what is right and good. Truth is what is correct according to history and science. All truth is God's truth, no matter how we discover it. God's Word is truth because He inspired it. Therefore, we can always know the truth for a situation if we follow the Word of God.
David knew that there was a great blessing associated with acting in truth. (Psalm 145:18) He told us that the Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth. What a blessing! We can have the Lord of the universe close to us all of the time, as we call on Him in truth. So what does that mean?
We must call to the Lord for who He is. He is the Creator, and Sovereign King of Kings, and He is our Father, if we know the Lord Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. Therefore, we must call on Him in submission to who He is, if we are to call on Him in truth.
Also, we must call upon Him for His will to be done, not our will. We don't know the truth in every situation, but He does. We must call to Him in truth sincerely, and ask God to lead us and use us to do His will. Then, God will hear and be close to us. In fact, we should constantly be calling on the Lord in truth, so that is the attitude of our minds.
