A Calm Heart

Many people live with great stress all of the time. They are overwhelmed by problems with their families or their finances. They are constantly losing sleep because they are worrying about things. Many of those things never happen, but they have no security, so all they know to do is to worry. That is a terrible way to live.

God's Word shows us a much better way. (Proverbs 15:16) It is better to have little with fear for the Lord, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil. Yes, having the right fear of the Lord keeps us from having inner turmoil. It leads us to having a clam heart of trust in Him.

If we fear the Lord, we will stay away from evil, and we will walk in His ways. Just this one practice leads us away from problems and into peace. When we live in righteousness, God's ways smooth out the path we are walking with Him and with others.

Then, if we fear the Lord in that we worship Him as we should, and we stand in awe of His great power, we will trust Him to care for us. Therefore,  even if we only have a little money and possessions, we can be secure knowing our God can take care of our needs very well. The fear of the Lord causes us to trust Him and live righteously, and then, we will have inner calm instead of inner turmoil.
