Overwhelmed at the Thought
I wonder what most of us would say would be the greatest thing that could happen to us? I think some people would think it would be to be rich and powerful. I think others would be focused on their family being blessed. However, there is something far greater than those things, and it should overwhelm us just to think about it happening. Let's consider what that should be.
Job had the confidence that His Redeemer was alive. (Job 19:25,27) He knew that one day Jesus would stand on the earth, and He surely did, and He will do it again. Also, Job knew that He would see Jesus with his own eyes. Just to think of that encounter with His Redeemer overwhelmed Job. It should overwhelm us, too.
As Christians, we are told that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. As soon as we die, we will be in the presence of Jesus. We will behold Him, and we will worship Him. Also, when He returns to the earth for His Second coming, we will be with Him, and we will see Him as His foot touches down on the Mount of Olives and He walks into Jerusalem through the eastern gate. It will be overwhelming.
Also, non-believers will see the Redeemer they rejected. They will stand before the Great White Throne in Judgment, and they will see Jesus. It will be overwhelming for them, too, but it will be overwhelmingly sad to hear Him say, "Depart from Me, I never knew you." I pray that will never happen to any of us, but we all will surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ in repentance and faith, so we can be overwhelmed in the best way possible.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 21-24.
