Our Confidence and Hope in Times of Trouble

When the storms of life come, we, as Christians, should have an anchor to steady us. When we find ourselves in unbearable pain, we should not be tempted to give up. We should know that we have a reason to keep going. However, if we put our eyes on the trouble, we can forget the things that give us confidence and hope. I pray we will not do that.

Job's pain and loss struck him down, because he only looked at what he didn't have. (Job 4:6) Then, his friend Eliphaz asked him two great questions. "Doesn't your reverence for God give you confidence? Doesn't your life of integrity give you hope?" Those questions are good for us, too.

When we have lived our life in the reverence of God, fearing God in the right way, and walking with Him each day, do we really believe that God is going to abandon us in the times of trouble? Of course not. He is an  All-loving, All-powerful Father to us. He values our relationship with Him, and He stays with us in the storms of life. Even when we hurt badly, we should have confidence in God because of that.

As Christians, we should always have hope, no matter what happens, because we have lived a life of integrity before the Lord. We have sincerely put our trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We have not been perfect, but we have attempted to glorify God and honor Him in what we say and do. We should know that God has seen that, and He will not forsake us, no matter what kind of pain we have to endure for a season.
