God Speaks Again and Again

God is almost always speaking to us on a regular basis. Yes, He does go silent at times, and then for a good reason. However, that is the exception, not the rule. God wants a close relationship with each of us, so He is constantly speaking to us, hoping we will listen and respond.

Job's younger friend, Elihu, knew this well. (Job 33:14-16) He assured Job that God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people, as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings.

We must not think that God is limited in the ways that He can speak to us. If we are only looking for Him to speak in particular ways, we will miss some of what He is saying. We must be sensitive to anything God might say to us in any means He might use. It could be a dream or a vision, but more often He speaks right to our heart.

When God speaks to us, we will hear, if we have tender hearts, not hardened by sin. We will hear Him, if we fear Him, and we are ready to obey whatever He says. We will hear His still, small voice whisper to us, when we are set on Him, and we will be terrified by His warnings because we know His power. I pray we will not miss hearing and obeying what God says to us, as He speaks again and again.
