Determined to Study and Obey

It seems that many of us do not like the idea of studying anything. It is too much like work for some of us. However, there are a lot of benefits to doing an in-depth study of a subject that is important to us. Then, after the study, we begin to do what we learned, and our life is a lot better. That is really true when we study the Bible.

Ezra was a great student of the Bible. (Ezra 7:10) He was determined to study and obey the Law of the Lord and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel. We need more people like Ezra in our churches today. Everyone would be better off in many ways.

I know the Bible is long. I know it has 66 books in it, and they can be difficult. However, every word of it is the Word of God. It was inspired by God for our good, and we are to do our best to learn as much as we can, so then, we can live by His Word. He will give us strength to do that, but we have to apply ourselves.

As we learn and grow in our Christian life, we are able to share with others. We don't have to be a teacher, like Ezra, but we can simply tell people what we have learned and how we have been blessed by living it out. That way, they will benefit, even if they have not studied as much. Also, it might spur them to study and obey for themselves.
