The End of God's Compassion

God has a great amount of compassion for all people. He feels our pain with us. He wants us to see the way out of our pain, so we can live in peace and joy. However, many people will not listen to the Lord when He sends them His messengers and His directions. He gives them time to do right, but His compassion does run out at some point.

That is what happened to Judah. (II Chronicles 36:15-16) The Lord God of their ancestors repeatedly sent His prophets to warn them, for He had compassion on His people and His temple. But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. They scoffed at the prophets until the Lord's anger could no longer be restrained and nothing could be done. Please, hear what God is saying.

God is love. That is true. However, some people think that means that He would never punish anyone. They think they can do whatever they want, and God will still love them and shower blessings on Him, because of His compassion. They scoff at His messengers and His Word, until God has to pour out His anger on them, and He does.

God does everything He can do to avoid coming to the end of His compassion, but if we push Him, He will strike back, because He is also holy. God can't overlook sin forever. If He did, He would not be holy. Therefore, we must adjust our view of God to include His holiness and to cause us to have a healthy fear of the Lord, not just count on His compassion.
